"Summer meeting of the Forum of Croatian Astronomers 2006" is organized by Croatian astronomers, from Croatia and abroad. The purpose of this meeting is multifold:
  1. Lectures/talks: Croatian astronomers from Croatia and abroad introduce their work through the lectures and talks.

  2. Astrophysics program in Split: as the starting date (2007.) for the MSc program in Split nears, the summer meeting is crucial for discussions on the future of the program and its organization.

  3. Scientific venue in Split: in order to ensure hands-on experience for the students following Msc astrophysics program in Split, it is necessary to initiate scientific research as a part of a new, future institute. The summer meeting is a useful gathering of everyone involved for needed discussions and direct input of new ideas.

Last year's meeting proved the necessity of such a meeting and its usefulness for enhancing the scientific collaborations among Croatian astronomers in Croatia and abroad. The given talks were a success, as were the discussions and the round table on the topics of the MSc program in Split and a new institute. This year's forum should continue the last year's accomplishments and create a base for the annual meetings. We hope to  implement the ideas in concrete plans and bring the future astronomy and astrophysics in Croatia to a new level.
